W. (BILL) OGDEN Mr. Ogden has extensive trial and appellate experience in a wide range of commercial litigation, with a recent concentration in communications, employment, media and energy law. Mr. Ogden was selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® 2009 in the field of First Amendment law for over 15 years (Copyright 2008 by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken, S.C.). Mr. Ogden has also been recognized as a Super Lawyer by Law & Politics Magazine for 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Mr. Ogden is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He was named one of the Top 5 Media Lawyers in Texas in the Texas Lawyer “Top Notch Lawyer” survey from 2002-2007. He is a member of the Defense Counsel Section of the Libel Defense Resource Center, the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists, an Advisory Director of the Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas, and a past recipient of that Foundation’s James Madison Award. He currently serves as a Director of the State Bar of Texas for District 4, Position 2. He has served as a director of Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program, as a member and past chairman of the Houston Bar Association’s Law and Media Committee, and as a past recipient of the HBA’s President’s Award. Mr. Ogden received his B.A. in Mathematics with highest honors from the University of Texas in 1974, and his J.D. with honors from the University of Texas in 1977, where he was a member of the Texas Law Review and Order of the Coif. He was formerly a trial partner with Liddell, Sapp, Zivley, Hill & LaBoon (now known as Locke, Lord, Bissell & Liddell) in Houston, Texas.
