Laura Gibson

Laura Gibson is one of four partners who founded Ogden, Gibson, Broocks, Longoria & Hall, L.L.P. in 1993. The firm is a member of the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) and is certified as a Women's Business Enterprise by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council. Prior to forming the firm, Ms. Gibson was a trial partner with Liddell, Sapp, Zivley, Hill & LaBoon (now known as Locke Lord) in Houston, Texas.

Ms. Gibson has been Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 2001. She has extensive trial and appellate experience handling complex commercial litigation and arbitrations in areas involving employment, banking, energy, securities, copyright and communications law. She has handled arbitrations before the National Association of Securities Dealers, the Financial Industry Regulating Authority (FINRA) and the American Arbitration Association.

Ms. Gibson is a Director of the State Bar of Texas, District 4, and a member of the State Bar's Executive Committee. She served on the Advertising Review Committee for the State Bar of Texas from 2004 through 2010, including serving as Chair of the committee for three years.

Ms. Gibson has been recognized as a Super Lawyer by Law & Politics Magazine for 2004 and 2007-14. She is recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America® 2009-14 in the field of Labor and Employment Law (Copyright by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken, S.C.).

Ms. Gibson is a member of the Labor and Employment, Litigation, Appellate and Securities Litigation & Arbitration Sections of the Houston Bar Association and is a Past Chair of the HBA Labor & Employment Section. She has served on the Board of Directors for the HBA since 2006 and has been on the Executive Committee since 2010 where she currently serves as President-Elect. She has chaired or co-chaired the following HBA committees: Administration of Justice (2014-15); Harvest Celebration (2013-14); Lawyers Against Waste (2012-13); Gender Fairness Committee (2011-12); Law Day Committee (2010-11), Juvenile Consequences Program (2009-10), Judicial Polls Committee (2008-09), and the Institutes Sub-Committee of the CLE Committee (2007-08). She served on the Board of Houston Lawyer Referral Service from 2008-10 including serving as President in 2009-10. She resumed her service on the HLRS Board in 2012 where she served until 2013. She served on the Board of the Houston Lawyers Volunteer Lawyers from 2012 through 2014. Ms. Gibson is a past co-chair of the Texas Minority Counsel Program (2009 and 2010) and served on the Steering Committee from 2007 through 2011. In 2011, Ms. Gibson served as the President of the Association of Women Attorneys. Ms. Gibson also serves on the Board of Directors for the University of Houston Law Center Alumni Association.

Ms. Gibson is a Sustaining Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a Life Fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation. She is a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas, the Society of Human Resource Management, HR Houston, where she is a past chair of the Legislative Action Committee, the Legal and Compliance Division of the Securities Industry Association and Leadership Houston (Class XVIII) where she served as General Counsel for three years. Ms. Gibson is a member of the Greater Houston Partnerships Executive Women's Partnership Committee where she has served on the Leadership Council since 2008 including serving as chair in 2011.

In 2012, Ms. Gibson was also selected as one of ten "Women on the Move" by the Texas Executive Women.

Ms. Gibson is a former adjunct professor of Trial Advocacy for the University of Houston Law Center. She also taught as an instructor at the NITA National Session, the Southern Regional Trial Advocacy Program at the SMU School of Law and the University of Houston Deposition NITA Program.
